PARIS — The state has dismissed charges against a mental health worker accused of molesting a teenager last spring.
The District Attorney’s Office dropped the misdemeanor charges of unlawful sexual contact and assault against Ronald L. Theriault due to insufficient evidence. Theriault was accused of touching the genitals and buttocks of a 17-year-old boy urinating in the woods at the Snow Falls rest area in West Paris in April. The boy borrowed a cell phone and called police, giving them a description and license plate number of Theriault’s vehicle.
“Our victim is unable to come forward at this time,” Assistant District Attorney Richard Beauchesne told Justice Robert Clifford on Tuesday in the Oxford County Superior Court.
At the time of his arrest, Theriault was working as an adult case manager with the Tri-County Mental Health offices in Oxford. The company provides several services to adults and children suffering from mental health disorders in Androscoggin, Franklin, Oxford and northern Cumberland counties.
