FREEPORT — Sharon Maxwell, Ph.D., award-winning author of “The Talk: What Your Kids Need to Hear From You About Sex,” will speak at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1, at the Community Hall at Merriconeag Waldorf School, 57 Desert Road. The cost for the event is $10 at the door.

Maxwell’s presentation will respect parent concerns and community sensibilities and give parents strategies for dealing with difficult subjects such as responsible sexual behavior, guidelines for Internet use and how to effectively navigate media and peer pressure.

Maxwell is an author, educator and practicing clinical psychologist. Her work has been featured in Time Magazine, US News and World Report, Working Mother, The Boston Globe, on National Public Radio, Oprah and Friends and Fox News.
