POLAND — Former Bush White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card will be the featured speaker Oct. 16 at the last big fundraiser for the Androscoggin County Republicans before November’s general election.
“It’s something we try and do every two years before a major election to help the county candidates,” said organizer George Sanborn, chairman of the Poland Town Republicans. “It’s just a chance to raise some money and help the party.”
The event is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. with cocktails, followed by a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Poland Spring Inn on Route 26. Tickets are $40 per person and may be reserved by calling Sanborn at 754-9005 or Gina Mason at 353-9086.
WLOB Radio news talk host Ray Richardson will be master of ceremonies, with Card as the special guest. Other scheduled speakers include District 2 congressional candidate Jason Levesque and U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe.
