PARIS — Doreen Lang, a prolific writer of poetry, children’s puppet shows and devotions, has published her first children’s book, “Journey Through Pastor’s Pear Tree.”
Lang who lives with her husband and two children in South Paris, said she has already started her second book, “Jacob’s Clearing.”
Lang said she started “Journey Through Pastor’s Pear Tree” while her family was living with her pastor, Bruce Tyner, after their house was condemned, due to a mold problem. Charlie, her older son, would watch Tyner feed turkeys under his pear tree.
In the book, Charlie falls asleep under a tree and is whisked to a land of talking turkeys. He is told the story of Jesus through colors, with gold, black, red, white and green representing heaven, sin, Jesus’ death, the washing away of sin and Christian growth.
The 48-page book geared to ages 8 to 13 was illustrated by artist Brenda Ellis Sauro, owner of Painted Mermaid Gallery.
“Journey Through Pastor’s Pear Tree” is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and from West BowPress. It is also available as an e-book.
