AUBURN — Wallace J. Gervais, 81, of Lewiston, passed away on Friday , Oct. 15, at The Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice House of Auburn with his family by his side.
He was born on May 26, 1929, in St Agatha, a son of the late Onezime and Mable (Chasse) Gervais. He attended school in St. Agatha and then moved to Lewiston in 1946, to work in the kitchens of St. Mary’s Hospital. He later worked for Koss Shoe and Knapp Shoe until the 1960s when he then went to work for Paragon Glass and General Electric. He married Sally E. Collins in 1953, and spent 26 happy years raising their three children until she passed away in 1979. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish until it’s closing. He then became a member of Prince of Peace Parish at Holy Family Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to fish, hunt, spend time gardening and getting together with the family on Sundays.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Huston and her husband, Carl Huston Jr.; his son, Steven Gervais of New Hampshire; his sister, Betty (Gervais) Theriault; his brother, Willard Gervais and wife, Arlene; his sister-in-law, Mary Jane Gervais; his four grandchildren, Christopher Huston, Niomi Larrivee, Chrystal Hitchcock and Matthew Gervais; two great-grandchildren, Logan Hitchcock and Aura Crowell; nephews and nieces, Debra Carrier and husband, Robert, Diane Gendron and husband, George, Clayton Larochelle and wife, Marilyn, Carol Lotz and husband, David, Mike Larochelle and companion, Brenda, Don Theriault and wife, Phyllis, Ron Theriault, Glen Gervais and wife, Rebecca, Gary Gervais and wife, Tammy and Brian Gervais. He is also survived by several great-nephews and great-nieces.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Sally Gervais; a daughter, Wanda (Gervais) Larrivee; his sister, Lottie and her husband, Jean Larochelle; his brother, Wilfred Gervais; and brother-in-law, Arthur Theriault.
