LIVERMORE FALLS — The Jay Livermore Falls Seniors met Oct. 25 at Murray Hall, with Chairwoman Shirley Couture presiding. There were 34 members and one guest, Wally Tripp, in attendance.
Nancy Couture was welcomed as a new member. Blanche Bilodeau was on the sick list. John Patrick, who is running for Senate in the district, stopped in to socialize with the group. Representative Paul Gilbert supplied the group with a list of emergency numbers for state services. He also offered to accompany the group in Augusta sometime during the holiday season to visit the State Museum and the Blaine House.
Nancy Couture presented some ideas for the upcoming Christmas party and the group will vote on her suggestions in the next couple weeks. She also brought some homemade beef stew for all to enjoy following the meeting. It was voted and accepted that the Thanksgiving meal will be held Nov. 15, with finger rolls, salads and desserts to be served. The group will purchase the finger rolls and the members will bring the remainder of the meal.
George Doiron sang “Five Foot Two” for the group, as well as “Happy Birthday” for Shirley Couture, who was celebrating her birthday, as well as all the other members having birthdays in October.
The donations the members have made to the veterans and their families in Togus have been generous and there is one more week to donate.
The 50/50 was won by Edith LeBlanc and the door prizes donated by Carmen Moreau, Nancy Couture and an anonymous donor, were won by Ellie Mitchell, Carmen Moreau and Alice Demoras.
Beano will be played at the next meeting at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1.
