LEWISTON — December classes at SeniorsPlus have been announced. Classes are open to all and advance registration is required.

“Help for the Holidays – Caring for Someone with Memory Loss” will be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Instructor will be Ann Quinlan, Alzheimer’s Association. The free class is for families and caregivers of individuals with memory loss.

Gentle Basic Yoga will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Fridays, Dec. 3, 10 and 17. Cost is $10 a class.

Paul Jones is a certified Yoga instructor.

The gentle and basic yoga class is for people who have the mobility to get up and down from the floor with reasonable ease.

“Hearing Loss and Aging – Causes and Possible Solutions” will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6.

Dr. Bryce Cropper, Au.D., will present the free program on hearing loss, the mechanics of the ear, possible solutions to hearing and communication problems, and what to expect from a hearing care provider. Following the class, there will be a free hearing screening.

“Meditation and Breathing Skills for Seniors” will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7. Instructor Marcy Covey, wellness practitioner, will teach how meditation and deep breathing can ease pain and stress and help to create a sense of calm in the free class.

“Holiday Card Making” will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Dec. 8. Cost will be $5 for supplies. Instructor will be Tammy Cook, card maker.

AARP safe driving class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9. The cost of $14 is payable to AARP; $12 for AARP members.

Instructor will be Tom Harvey. The program helps drivers adjust to age-related changes.

Drivers 55 and older who complete this class are eligible for discounts on their auto insurance premiums for three years.

“Living with Grief through the Holidays” will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15.

Jim Douglas, bereavement services supervisor, Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, will teach ways to live with grief, cope with expectations and learn to identify traditions that promote healing.

“Beaded Jewelry: Earrings and Bracelet” will be offered from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17. Cost is $10 for supplies. Instructor will be Sandi Godin, owner, Beadaful Creations.
