Fred Weyand, who was termed as a “spotter,” has apparently been very active during his stay in Lewiston; and as a result of his work, several arrests in liquor cases have been made. He is said to be a Boston detective, who is under hire of the Sturgis commission for the purpose of securing evidence against rumsellers in various cities.
In Lewiston his work seems to be producing results. At least three arrests were made yesterday on evidence said to have been secured by him.

Ralph Welch was re-elected president of the Auburn-Lewiston Typographical Union No. 532 at a meeting yesterday afternoon at Paul Labbe Hall. The other officers elected were Morton Holbrook, vice president, and Gerald Brown, secretary-treasurer.

Running into higher-than-expected demand, an Auburn businessman closed a deal this week to move a new business from a 12,000-square-foot building in Lewiston to the 57,000-square-foot Stride Rite building in Auburn.
Richard N. Theriault of Continental Molding finalized a purchase agreement this week that will allow him to start production by Jan. 1, according to James Begert, who represented Theriault in the deal.
