WILTON — About 91 students will receive approximately 600 articles of clothing or footwear due to community support of the Giving Trees at Academy Hill and Cushing schools.

Darlene Paine, principal at both schools, thanked the community for making so many children’s wishes for warm clothing come true.

In total, the following items were received: 42 jackets, 47 pairs of snow pants, 50 pairs of boots, 58 pairs of mittens/gloves, 46 hats, 61 shirts, 74 pairs of pants, 59 pairs of pajamas, 56 packages of underwear, 57 packages of socks, 16 pairs of sneakers, three pairs of slippers, one pair of long johns, 20 fleece blankets and 10 fleece neck warmers.

“This amazing outcome was the result of the efforts of generous community members who made monetary donations and/or shopped for items,” Paine said. “We would like to extend a special thank you to Zetta Wojcik and her friends for organizing all of the items for each student and to our staff for their contributions. It was a tremendous community effort that truly was a benefit to our students!”
