I have to agree with Al Castagna (Jan. 12) regarding the United Baptist Church in Lewiston being torn down and casinos being built. It saddens me to think this is happening.

I went to Sunday school, Brownie and Girl Scout meetings and youth group meetings there. I have a picture of a few of us kids sitting on the side steps which was taken probably around 1947 or so. I also was baptized there.

I have many fond memories of that church. As a child I was amazed by the huge organ that sat up high, and also the choir. I can still picture it. The church also had a balcony in which I loved to sit.

It would have been nice if some kind of a business would have been interested in it.
