Art club talk

AUBURN — Barbara Randall, local teacher and long-time Auburn Art Club member, will review the life and work of American poet Edna St. Vincent Millay at a meeting of the art club at 2 p.. Monday, Jan. 24, in the United Methodist Church, Park Street.

Randall said she will use Millay’s definitive biography, “Strange Beauty,” to review the poet’s life. She will also show slides illustrating one of Millay’s early books of poetry, “Renascence.” The title poem from that book was written as though the reader is at the top of Mt. Battie, viewing Camden harbor and the woods of that coastal town. Millay was born in Rockland, lived in Camden, and is recognized with an historic marker on Mt. Battie.
