LEWISTON — Carmen B. Giguere, 82, of 181 Walnut St., Lewiston, died Thursday, Feb. 10, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 19, 1928, the daughter of Willie and Jeanne Martel Beaulieu. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1946.

On June 10, 1950, she married Romeo Giguere at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul in Lewiston. She was a devoted mother to her two children, and, along with her husband, owned and operated a series of restaurants, including Gigg’s Sandwich Bar, Gigg’s Restaurant, both in Lewiston, and the Steer House in Winthrop.

After retiring, she was an active volunteer for serval local organizations.

A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by her loving husband, Romeo of Lewiston; a son, Paul and wife, Brenda Giguere, of San Diego, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Beaulieu, O.P., of Quebec, and Roger and wife, Marcienne Beaulieu, of Lewiston; a sister, Irene and husband, Robert Soucy, of Lewiston; a son-in-law, Ralph Tuttle of Auburn; two brothers-in-law, Gerry St. Pierre of Van Buren and Arthur Ouellette Jr. of Lewiston; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Giguere Tuttle.

The family thanks the doctors and staff of the ICU of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for the care they gave her during her final illness.
