Last week’s results:

In a surprising turn of events, neither the fox nor the almanac got last week’s forecast right.

Stormy called for snow over this past weekend; the Farmers’ Almanac for clearing and unseasonably mild temperatures, some in the 70s. Instead, we got rain and temps in the 30s and 40s. Not exactly weather for the slopes or the beach.

Beware the Ides of March! and …

The choices: 1) Snow 2) Rain 3) Nothing much, really

The food: Mice.

The Farmers’ Almanac says: Continued fair weather.

Stormy says:  Get ready, it’s going to snow.

Stormy’s Furcast is a winter-long series testing the weather predictions of the good-natured folks at the nearly 200-year-old Farmers’ Almanac against an equally good-natured fox who lives at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray. The almanac is based on science and secret formulas. The fox makes her pick choosing from three piles of food, appropriately labeled. Each week, a new question and the previous week’s results. May the best forecaster, or furcaster, win.
