Members of the Mee Tu Club were pleasantly entertained by Miss Mary Cronin at her home on Pine Street, Lewiston, last evening. Bridge whist was enjoyed during the evening after which refreshments were served from the small tables. In two weeks the club will be entertained by Miss Nellie Baker, Main Street.

The “tremendous potential” of Pettengill Park’s undeveloped 20 acres of land for recreational purposes was the main topic for Auburn’s new recreational director, Harry Coulter Jr., yesterday as he addressed the Auburn Exchange Club.
Speaking of Pettengill Park, Coulter said 16 acres of park property currently is developed but added the undeveloped additional 20 acres offers a “tremendous potential” in a “long-range plan” of recreational facilities.

SABATTUS — Normand Emond and Frank Spencer were winners in Friday’s municipal elections, gaining posts on the board of selectmen and school committee, respectively.
Emond garnered 156 votes to Michael Turcotte’s 138 and Richard Behr’s 122 to become the new selectman, replacing long-time Selectman Annette Sturtevant, who decided not to seek re-election.
Spencer became the new school committee member, receiving 166 votes to Michael Adkin’s 99, Gerard Parent’s 91 and Raymond Champagne’s 55.
