Eileen Kreutz: State Senate District 5 needs Wheeler
Much in the news these days has to do with the rising cost of living. As I write this letter of endorsement for Farmington resident Stan Wheeler, I am reminded that at the top of his list of priorities is his goal of addressing that rising cost with common sense solutions. I wholeheartedly agree. Stan […]
Bob Mennealy: Auburn officials need to hear whether taxpayers are happy
I completely agree with the expressions in Pamela Larouche’s letter, published June 25, as well as Bruce Rioux’s letter, published June 30. Auburn’s city officials need to hear from their citizen taxpayers as to whether they, the citizens, are happy with the present direction the city is being led by Mayor Jason Levesque. It is […]
Andrea Breau: Rep. Cloutier is what Lewiston needs in Augusta
Those who attend any community event in Lewiston — a business opening, a beloved leader’s retirement, a celebration in the park, a championship game, a rally where residents are voicing issues that really matter to them, a public talk at the library — will see Rep. Kristen Cloutier in genuine conversation with, well, anyone. Kristen […]

Biden took to Twitter to urge “the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump” to heed his message: “Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product.”
Leonard Pitts Jr.: Just a different kind of rape
After years of openly flouting the law, high-profile offenders may, given sufficient media pressure and public attention, be held to account. Repeat: may. If your case doesn’t fall within those parameters, tough luck; you’re very likely to watch helplessly as your attacker goes unpunished. And you might be forgiven for thinking that doesn’t feel much like justice at all.
Michael Boom: ‘It’s now or never’ to stop insanity plaguing world
When we abandon a sinking ship, women and children are always — and rightfully so — the first to evacuate. Women and children are being bombed from overhead by Vladimir Putin’s hatred of women and children. Genocide is at hand, as a grotesque exercise in raw power of Russian generals and their enablers going on […]
Cal Thomas: It’s not easy being green
Technology should precede ideology, not the reverse. The Biden administration and its green allies want to force us into electric cars before most people can afford them and before they become as practical and convenient as gas-powered cars.
