Brian Ponce is a staff writer for the Franklin Journal, as well as the Livermore Falls Advertiser and the Sun Journal. Prior to joining the Sun Media team, he worked across many different industries ranging from warehouses to restaurants while pursuing his passion for writing on the side. Brian graduated from California State University in San Bernardino, California, with a B.A. in English with a focus on creative writing. Afterward, he performed freelance work documenting local musicians and their music in the High Desert of San Bernardino County. When he is not searching for a story, Brian can typically be found in his native habitat, a comic book shop, researching taco recipes and meandering.

RSU 9 recognizes the passing of former W.G. Mallett Principal Gerald Libby
Regional School Unit 9 recognized the passing of former W.G. Mallett school principal Gerald Glen Libby, who passed at the age of 85 years old. He was the principal for 32 years and was a big figure in the Farmington community. RSU 9 Board of Directors also granted the sabbatical request of Mt. Blue High School math teacher Meng Hardy.

Update on International Student Program at MBHS

Blue High School provided an update to Regional School Unit 9 Board of Directors on the progress of the International Student Program, which sees teenagers from Mexico, China and even Saudi Arabia visiting Maine for a year and experience everything the Farmington community has to offer.

Sugarloaf Charity Summit Gala returns
Sugarloaf Charity Summit will be hosting it’s gala this Saturday, Jan. 28, for first time in two years due to COVID-19 restrictions. This weekend will see a host of activities from Sugarloaf, such as an ugly sweater party on Friday, Jan. 27, and the charity challenge where the highest fundraiser will receive a host of prizes, all in the name of charity for cancer research and treatment.
