When police and rescue crews first approached the man, he refused to come out of the river, police said. Rescuers lowered a boat into the water and the man was physically pulled from the river.

Rumford man charged in sexual assault of 69-year-old woman
Shortly after midnight Thursday, police were called to a home in Mexico for a report of a sexual assault. The victim was taken to Rumford Hospital where she was examined, treated and later released, police said.
