    Dick Rasor, 74, a former corporate executive from New York, bought the Bethel Inn in 1979 at the age of 39. He grew it from a $300,000-per-year business with 3,000 overnight guests to a $6 million-per-year business with more than 35,000 overnight guests. The inn, which opened in 1913, is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

Walter Thompson, pictured at top. After buying the inn, Rasor was assisted by another employer, Milt Gossett, at bottom, president of Compton Advertising in New York.
