Becky Lamey puts a box full of KidsPaks onto a table Thursday at the Augusta Food Bank. Before the coronavirus pandemic struck in the spring, the food bank gave food products to the Augusta school system and students packed the bags and the bags were distributed in schools, according to Director Rob Moore. But now volunteers pack them at the food bank where they're given out 9-11 a.m. Thursdays.

Becky Lamey puts canned pasta into a KidsPak on Thursday at the Augusta Food Bank. There is also distribution of excess fresh food and produce at that time too. The food bank gets donations from Sam's Club, Walmart, Target and Hannaford stores in Augusta. Clients can pick up items once a month by appointment on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesdays. Then fresh items that wouldn't last till following Monday, such as strawberries or baked goods, are given away Thursday mornings.
