Foresters and local volunteers will present the public with its plan to harvest the China School Forest, one of 250 certified tree farms in Kennebec County, for the first time in 22 years. Trees across 20 acres of the property will be cut and sold as lumber and pulp, and the money from sales will go back into managing the forest. As part of the new plan, a harvest will occur every seven years and will provide sustainable forestry lessons to local schoolchildren.
