Finally finished. On July 10, Emily, left, and Kate Nichols hold up 14 fingers to represent their accomplishment of summiting the 14 highest mountains in Maine, finishing atop the West Peak of Bigelow Mountain in the Bigelow Range that runs through Franklin and Somerset counties.

Kate, left, and Emily Nichols said summiting Baxter Peak on Mount Katahdin in 2018, their eighth by finger count, was their favorite. The mountain tops 5,267 feet and is a strenuous climb by any measure.
Mount Abraham was the sixth mountain Kate, left, and Emily Nichols climbed in their quest to summit all 4,000-foot mountains in Maine. Mount Abraham was one of eight mountains the Nichols family summited in 2018.
