After two sessions, the Budget Committee has trimmed more than $83,000.

A total of $49,000 was cut Wednesday night in the first of three planned sessions of the 14-member board.

The county has already approved spending $640,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funds out of the $22 million it is expected to receive.

The $16.1 million package would increase county taxes 12.3%.

The change in command structure for the Patrol Division would add $13,000 to the salary line in the proposed 2022 sheriff’s budget.

If approved as proposed, the county budget will increase by 1.89%.
