Small businesses ask Gov. Mills for financial relief amid crisis

Restaurants, bars and breweries are among companies asking the governor to consider more steps to help the state’s hard-hit service industries.

As concern over the virus grows, restaurants work to alleviate customers’ fears and to prepare themselves for what may come.

The owners of one of the city’s best-known restaurants have announced they’re closing in April.

The rustic Thistle Inn in Boothbay Harbor offers food, fun and community during the frigid off-season.

Louis Kiefer Jr. of the Bar Harbor Inn will accept the award at a gala in March.

In one case, Maine diners will get a discount on their check in return.

And look for a soft opening of the new steak-and-oyster restaurant in Brunswick this weekend.

The South Portland bakery says the second location may reopen in the spring.

The Portland restaurant, now called simply CBG, is under new ownership.
