Mt. Blue wrestling coach Michael Hansen approached the RSU 9 Board of Directors to talk about the amazing things the girl’s wrestling team has accomplished, but also requested the formation of a varsity squad.
RSU 9 recognizes the passing of former W.G. Mallett Principal Gerald Libby
Regional School Unit 9 recognized the passing of former W.G. Mallett school principal Gerald Glen Libby, who passed at the age of 85 years old. He was the principal for 32 years and was a big figure in the Farmington community. RSU 9 Board of Directors also granted the sabbatical request of Mt. Blue High School math teacher Meng Hardy.
Update on International Student Program at MBHS
Lisa Dalrymple of Mt. Blue High School provided an update to Regional School Unit 9 Board of Directors on the progress of the International Student Program, which sees teenagers from Mexico, China and even Saudi Arabia visiting Maine for a year and experience everything the Farmington community has to offer.

Mt. Blue High School Principal Monique Poulin shared with the Regional School Unit 9 Board of Directors updates on the music and theater programs at Mt. Blue High School as well as the BARR program, a program geared towards freshmen to increase the possibility of high school completion.
Mt. Blue Middle School, others share benchmark scores
Mt. Blue Middle School, along with Academy Hill, shared the results of their fall benchmark scores with the Regional School Unit 9 Board of Directors, and set their focus on improvement. Laura Columbia, Director of Curriculum, also shared updates on their strategic planning.
RSU 9 Food Pantry faces issues with space, funding
RSU 9’s food pantry, which helps feed families of students with food insecurity in the district, has logistical issues with boxes for their food as well as a lack of funds to keep its backpack program going for next year.
FCTEC students brave the great outdoors
Foster Career and Technical Education Center gave a presentation of their newest program, Oxbow Outdoors. The program teaches students outdoor skills, such as water filtration and building a fire, as well as mountain biking, rock climbing and even building a yurt.
