Fashion show

FARMINGTON — Mount Blue High School’s annual Prom Fashion Show will be 7 p.m. Friday, April 4, in the school auditorium. Admission is $3. Proceeds will benefit the junior class. Juniors will model outfits from area businesses. All are welcome to attend.

EAST WILTON — “Planning and Planting Your Garden,” the second in a free series of vegetable gardening workshops will be held from 9 to 12 noon on Monday, April 7, at the Western Maine Community Action Service Center. Civil rights

FARMINGTON — A talk on “The USA Patriot Act and Your Civil Right” is scheduled at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at the University of Maine at Farmington, in Thomas Auditorium, Preble Hall. Bruce M. Merrill, a Portland lawyer and former assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney General’s Office, will speak. Merrill practices civil and criminal law. He will discuss the provisions of the Patriot Act, its relationship to the Bill of Rights, and whether it jeopardizes the civil rights of U.S. citizens. The talk is free and open to all. It’s sponsored by a UMF student group, SEAChange. For directions, people can call 778-3513.

Annual meeting

FARMINGTON — The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District annual meeting and silent auction will be 5 to 9 p.m., Friday, April 11, in Mount Blue High School. Social hour begins at 5 p.m. and a ham buffet dinner will be served at 6:10 p.m.

Tickets for the evening include refreshments, a social gathering, the buffet dinner and a chance to bid at the auction. The Franklin County Fiddlers will entertain. There will be many items to bid on, including two 100-gallon fuel oil certificates, ski lift tickets and custom-made fly fishing rods. Preregistration is $11 for adults and $6 for children age 10 and under. Tickets will be an additional $1 at the door. People can call Rosetta or Linda for registration or stop by the office at 107 Park St. for a registration form and a list of more than 170 auction items.
