PARIS – Usually the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department gets a report of items missing in a burglary, seeks to find them and then pursues the burglars.

On Monday, the sheriff’s office got a chance to work a case backwards.

Missing items were recovered, but it is unknown who lost them or who took them.

Capt. James P. Miclon said that on Monday a deputy retrieved a bagful of items that a citizen found on a turnout on the Richardson Hollow Road just off the Greenwood Road.

The items included a camera, a watch and other jewelry, German money and decorative pins from World War II.

Miclon said a concerned citizen found the items lying on the snow, bagged them up and then brought them into the station.

He said anyone with information concerning a possible burglary should call the office at 743-9554.
