LEWISTON – Wendy J. Wolf, executive director of the Maine Health Access Foundation, will speak as part of the Great Falls Forum Thursday, April 17.

Her talk is titled “Reaching Beyond Charity: Catalytic Philanthropy For Strategic Health Care Solutions.”

Wolf was recruited by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services where she served as a senior adviser to the administrators for both the Health Resources and Services Administration and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

She has helped develop, coordinate and implement the federal policy and operational guidance for the $24 billion State Children’s Health Insurance Program.

She graduated from Ohio State College of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency and fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. Wolf’s academic career has always focused on blending patient care with clinical, educational and basic science research. Her research has been funded by the American Health Association for both educational projects and basic science research. on neonatal cardiac metabolism.

She was the principal investigator for a five-year National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute Preventive Cardiology Academic Award. She received former Secretary Shalala’s Award for Distinguished Service in May 2000 and the HRSA Administrators Award for Outstanding Service in 2001.
