1910 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Mildred B. Cushing, 92, of Farmington died April 15, at Pinewood Terrace.

She was born Oct. 7, 1910, in Gilead, the daughter of William C. and Nellie (Kendall) Bennett. She was educated in the schools of W. Bethel. She married Gerald Cushing in August of 1929 in Lewiston. He died in February of 1989.

She served as a volunteer at Franklin Memorial Hospital Gift Shop for many years. she was also a Girl Scout Leader for many years. She was a housewife for most of her life living in Wilton since 1953.

She was a member of the Agricultural Extension of Wilton, the National Sunshine Society, and the Franklin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, knitting, sewing, gardening, reading, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Cushing and wife Irene of Farmington, and Rick Cushing and wife Gloria of East Wilton; a sister, Phyllis Thayer of Danielson Conn.; a brother, Shurwin Bennett of Mission Hills, Calif.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years; a son, Ronald lost in the Korean War; three sisters, Gladys Cross, Ethel Vashaw, and Ruby Largey; and two brothers, Almond and Raymond Bennett.
