WALES – Danielle Sargent had a single, a triple and a home run to lead Oak Hill to a decisive 11-1 opening-day win over MCI in KVAC softball action on Wednesday.

Sargent was also the winning pitcher for the Raiders (1-0). Julie Lizotte also had a double and a triple for the Raiders, while Kandi Ames went 2-for-4 with two singles.

St. Dom’s 11, Freeport 3

FREEPORT – St. Dom’s erupted for eight runs in the fourth inning, lifting the Saints to an 11-3 WMC softball win over Freeport.

Kat Vincent smacked a triple, drove in two runs and scored twice, and Sarah Caron added two runs and two RBIs for the Saints (2-0).

Poland 14, York 2

POLAND – Poland scored nine runs in the first three innings to earn its first win of the season in a 14-2 victory over York (2-1) in Western Maine Conference softball Wednesday.

Meghan Ford had two hits and drove in two runs for the Knights (1-1). Jen Gleason had two hits and one RBI. Poland pitcher Nicole Lovejoy allowed three hits and struck out seven batters.

Winthrop 13, Carrabec 1

WINTHROP – Martha Salois had three hits and three RBIs while Jen McMaster banged out two doubles as Winthrop opened the season with a 13-1 win over Carrabec in MVC softball action Wednesday.

Katie Wing went the distance for the Ramblers (1-0), allowing four hits and one

walk while striking out 11 hitters. Marcie Williams knocked in the only run for Carrabec (0-1).
