LISBON – The Open Door Christian Academy, 26 Gartley St., will hold an open house from 8 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, for grades kindergarten through 12. The 5-year-old kindergarten class will be open from noon to 1 p.m.

Meeting speaker

LEWISTON – The National Association of Retired Federal Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, at the Ramada Inn when Linda Blanchard, RN, M.Ed., will be the speaker.

Blanchard will present “Humor – A Lifeline.” Her four-year journey with a loved one experiencing Alzheimer’s disease provided her with “lived insights.”

Blanchard is president of Blanchard Quality Consultants, a management consultant business that started in 1994 and provides key management support functions. She has extensive experience and training and has consulted throughout Maine and New England.

Plans for the meeting were made at a recent board meeting at the home of Vi Dumais. Attending were President Mike Bohunicky, Sue Stetson, Florence Bohunicky, Therese Baumer, Doris Hamel and Jayne Bickford. Bohunicky will preside at the meeting and lunch will be served at noon.

Francos’ history

AUBURN – The Androscoggin Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, on the third floor of the Androscoggin County Building, Court Street. Dr. Mark P. Richard will discuss “The Franco-Americans of Lewiston.” It is free and open to the public. The building is wheelchair accessible.

Legion meeting

LEWISTON – Post 22, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Trinity Church Hall, 247 Bates St. The agenda will include an update on membership and finances and nomination of officers. Members are eligible to run for office if they have paid their dues.

Members will make plans for Armed Forces Day on May 17, Memorial Day parade of May 26 and the Civil War memorial service on May 30. Refreshments will be served.

Distribution Day

AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve will hold Distribution Day from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance. Registration for May will also be taken. New participants are welcome. Call Janet at 784-2164 for details.

Semper Fi’s

AUBURN – The Maine Semper Fi’s, a local group of former women Marines, will meet at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the Auburn Police Station conference room. Members will meet for lunch at noon at the Village Inn.

First aid class

LEWISTON – Finders/Seekers Child Care Resource Development Center will sponsor American Heart Association first aid and CPR courses from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Lever’s Day Care, Mollison Way. Tournament

WINTHROP – The 16th annual Winthrop Cribbage Tournament will be held Sunday, May 3, at the Winthrop Congregational Church. Registration will be at 6 p.m. with play to start at 6:15.

There will be trophies, door prizes and free refreshments. Adults are $5 and students, $3. Advance registration is requested. Call Bill or Darlene Rodzen at 377-8639.

Proceeds will benefit the church, which is handicapped accessible. Those playing are asked to bring a cribbage board.
