BRUNSWICK – Volunteers of America Northern New England honored its 2003 award winners, including two area people, at a Celebration of Caring meeting.

Employee of the Year was awarded to William Utley, director of support services in the organization’s Brunswick headquarters.

Described as the organization’s guide, supporter and role model, Utley has been with Volunteers of America three years.

The Ministry of Service Award was presented to Mary O’Leary, program director for the Sagadahoc and Androscoggin County Adult Corrections Programs.

June Koegel, president and CEO of the volunteers group, said, “Her peers describe Mary as most compassionate, committed and dedicated employee at the organization.” O’Leary was also recognized for her seven years of service with Volunteers of America.
