OTISFIELD – The Board of Selectmen appointed five members to a Municipal Buildings Committee Wednesday night.

“We’d like the committee to look at all the town-owned buildings and give us recommendations,” said Board Chairman Gerry Robinson.

He listed town buildings as the East Otisfield Fire Station, Gore Road Fire Station, Spurrs Corner Fire Station, East Otisfield Community Hall, Town Hall on Bell Hill, Town Office, Salt Shed and Transfer Station.

“We have two we are not even using at all,” Robinson said, referring to East Otisfield Community Hall and Town Hall.

Selectman Lenny Adler noted the community will eventually need a town garage. For the last few years the community has been buying vehicles for the highway department. When not in use, the vehicles are parked at Road Commissioner Richard Bean Sr.’s residence.

“At some point we’re going to need a community center,” Robinson said.

The East Otisfield Community Hall no longer has water, has fallen into disrepair and is no longer used.

Committee members are Anne Pastore, Tom Nurmi, Dave Hankins, Dan Peaco and Mike McAllister. The next step for the committee is to schedule meetings, board members said.
