AUBURN – The Child Health Center’s Auburn Preschoolers joined to make a care package for a soldier far away from home.

Emmie Gallant, an education technician, said, “I was listening to the radio and heard them talking about ‘Hugs to Kuwait,’ a program asking people to adopt a soldier and send them a care package to show that they are supported at home. I thought this would be a wonderful opportunity for our children. It offers them the chance to learn about giving and how they can support their country even as children.”

The preschoolers took an afternoon to make, bake and decorate cookies. The cookies, a photo of the children and a letter were packaged and sent to a soldier from the area who is serving the country.

The center offers preschool services to children in Androscoggin and Oxford counties. Those interested in learning more can contact Rhonda Rackliffe at 743-7035 or visit www.childhealthcenter.org.
