1931 – 2003

WEST PARIS – Roger G. Corriveau Sr., 72, of North Road in Gilead, died Monday, April 28, at Ledgeview Living Center.

He was born in St. Marcel, Quebec, on April 23, 1931, a son of Dairie and Octavia Corriveau. He attended schools in Gilead and worked as a self-employed logger for most of his life and had worked for Branrex Co. in Connecticut, which he really enjoyed. He also worked in several positions for other companies.

Mr. Corriveau was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the U.S. Army National Guard after 23 years of service and was known in the Guard as the “Walking Tech Tape.”

He enjoyed tinkering at Fred’s Garage, as well as playing the fiddle which he won many contests. He also enjoyed telling stories at Uncle Ferns. He enjoyed being with his family and was a member of the American Legion Post of Locke Mills.

He is survived by his wife, Jean (White) Corriveau of Bethel; two sons, Roger Jr. of Jewett City, Conn., and Robert of Gilead; two daughters, Jane Billings of West Paris and Janet Stone of Bethel; six brothers, Fernand of Gilead, Lauriat of Greenwood, Rosaire of Lewiston, Yvon of Gilead, Denis of Canton and Florian of Windham; two sisters, Jeannette Marr of Rumford, and Murial Couillard of St. Marcel, Quebec; five grandchildren, Crystal Corriveau, Elizabeth Corriveau, Tearah Stone, Natasha Stone and Ryan Billings; and a special nephew, Fred Corriveau and his wife Sue of Gilead.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Leo, Jean-Paul,Yves and Yvenho; and two sisters, Maryann Dupont and Louisette Caron.
