1917 – 2003

BRUNSWICK – Margaret L. Tyler, 86, died Wednesday, April 30, after a long illness.

She was born in Auburn, March 31, 1917, the daughter of Otis and Margaret (McCarthy) Parker. She moved to Lewiston as a small child.

She graduated from C.M.G. Hospital Nursing School and studied pediatrics at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She married Herbert M. Tyler in Lewiston July 6, 1946. Mr. Tyler died Feb. 12, 1993.

Mrs. Tyler was a supervisor of nursing at Children’s Hospital in Portland from 1940 until it closed. After raising a family, she returned to nursing at Portland City Hospital. She moved to Topsham in 1988.

She is survived by her four children, Kelly Tyler of Topsham, Patricia Fullam of Manchester, NH, Carol Sheloske of Topsham and John Tyler of Brunswick; a brother, Bernard Parker and his wife, Dorothy of Auburn; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
