AUBURN – Sixth-grade students from Auburn intermediate schools participated in the annual Auburn Schools Grade Six Math Meet at Webster School on April 8.
The event was part of the on-going enrichment activity through the Auburn Gifted and Talented Program facilitated by Joanie Simard and Carrie Beaulieu. Students competed for team points in individual and team events that required participants to solve problems involving calculations, logical thinking and visual-spatial math.
The team of Ilana Freedman, Brett Hackett, Greg Judd, Kirsten Lamiette, Bethany Potter and Isaiah Rembert placed first in the team competition.
In second was the team composed of Breanna Cook, Leah Costlow, Emily Dodge, Ethan Grund, Shawn Keene and Diana Kruszewski.
The team of Jacob Naum, Dylan Therrien, Kim Tremblay, Neil Pomerleau and Matt Barlion finished in third.
Individual high scorer was Neil Pomerleau, with Jacob Naum in second place. Third honors were shared by Bethany Potter and Emily Dodge, with Josh Mains rounding out the field of individual winners with a fourth-place showing.
