I wanted to share a story of goodness during these trying times.
My son has autism and has just learned to roll the window down in our car. This is very distracting and dangerous.
I recently went to VIP Discount Auto Center in Auburn and asked for help in removing the window handle. The mechanic was unable to do the work but the shop found a place that could and arranged for me to take my car there.
I went to Marc’s Auto Body, where Dan removed both handles and explained how to put them back on if needed. I wasn’t charged for the service.
Dan looked over to see that my rear license plate was missing a screw and was hanging and he repaired the plate at no charge.
These events may not sound like much, but they meant a lot to me.
Being the parent of a special needs child always feels like taking one step forward and two steps back, fighting for every single thing your child needs. It was so nice to get more than I asked for and not be asked for anything in return.
I would like to thank these workers for their decency and willingness to lend a helping hand.

A kindness
This letter is for the man or woman who found my cell phone in the K-Mart parking lot on March 3.
That person’s thoughtfulness and kindness for turning in the phone at the store deserve a big thank you. If everyone would be like that our world would be a better place.
It meant a great deal to me.

Thank you
To the Norway-Paris and greater community, although I am trying, I can’t find a way to contact each of you who so generously contributed to my fire relief fund and gave me two separate benefit concerts and dinners.
All of this is helping immensely in getting restarted and recovering.
Thank you all from the bottom (and top) of my heart!
Pete Lenz, Norway
