PARIS – Newly elected officers chosen by the Foster-Carroll Legion Auxiliary No. 72 recently have been announced.

They are: president-elect, Florence McLaughlin; first vice president-elect, Marguerite Johnson; second vice president-elect, Jill Berard; secretary-treasurer-elect, Marilyn Ramsay; chaplain, Pat Dyer; historian, Marvis Maynard; Sgt.-at-Arms, Lillian Herrick.

Delegates going to the Bangor convention in June are Florence McLaughlin, Marguerite Johnson, Lillian Herrick and Pat Dyer. The installation will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, with Jeri Greenwell of Bethel as installing officer.

The unit’s membership has risen from 118 to 128 even though six members died during the year.

It was noted that three post 72 legion members were married to three unit 72 members since June 2002.

Poppy Days was observed by legion and unit members of South Paris to gather donations for providing aid to area veterans and families in times of serious illness and need.

On May 8 they will provide lunches for more than 300 participants in the Special Olympics at the Gouin Athletic Field. Marilyn Ramsay will be in charge of lunch preparations that will start at 7:30 a.m. at the Legion Hall with members working to get enough food ready to take to the field by 10 so they can serve the athletes and counselors at noon.

After the Memorial Day parade and flag ceremony at the town hall, there will be another family day celebration at the South Paris Legion Hall with more news to follow later. There will also be the dance on Saturday, May 17, with the Parisians playing at the hall. The post and and unit are always looking for new members to help and to join in the fun.
