1966 – 2003

LEWISTON – Christopher R. Pullen, 37, died unexpectedly on May 6, at CMMC.

He was born in Waterville on July 20, 1966.

He lived in Oakland until the fourth grade when he moved to North New Portland. There he started his passion for the outdoors. Hunting, trapping and fishing was his love of life. He moved back to Oakland and graduated from Messalonskee High School in 1985. Prior to his graduation he joined the Army on their pre-entry program.

After graduating, he went to Fort Campbell, Ky. In 1986, he went to Germany with his wife and son to serve his country for 2 1/2 years. In his six years of service he reached the rank of E5 before being honorably discharged.

Once out of the military, his journey home involved a cross-country ride on his brand new Harley-Davidson Soft tail. His career then turned toward construction where he worked for large companies in and out of state as a pipe-fitter and eventually was promoted into a supervisory position. While working, he put money aside for the reconstruction of a beautiful Harley.

He continued his passion for hunting and fishing during his out of state career. He was often bragging that he could get two deer in southern states and the fish were bigger than the ones in Maine. He also learned the art of boar hunting out of state and we all received pictures of a successful hunt.

Fishing and hunting were a big part of Chris’ life. He was enjoying the time outside and enjoyed it with his family. Two years ago he and his family bought a boat that was seaworthy and he obtained his Coast Guard Certification for deep sea fishing. He often spoke of trying to catch a big tuna or better yet, a Maco shark. Each weekend he would put the boat in at Pine Point and go for the “big one.” It usually got away. When fall came rolling around he would always call his brother. Did you get your deer? I have. Did you get a big fish? I did.

He will be missed but will remain in the hearts of family members forever.

He is survived by his beloved fiancee, Beth Turcotte of Mechanic Falls; her two children; his father and step mother, Charles and Donna Pullen of Oakland; a son, Wesley of Bangor; three brothers; five sisters; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
