AUBURN – Chris Peterson’s double keyed a three-run second inning for Westbrook as the Blue Blazes rolled past Edward Liitle 3-1 in SMAA baseball action Thursday. Tom Anthony contributed for the Blue Blazes (2-8) with two hits and one RBI. Andrew Cutter scattered four hits while earning the mound win.
Rory Flynn went the distance for the Red Eddies (1-9), striking out five while taking his third loss of the season.
Wiscasset 8, Jay 7
JAY – J.T. Haggett hit the two-run come from behind single in the seventh frame to lift Wiscasset to an 8-7 victory over Jay in MVC baseball action Thursday.
The Redskins (2-6) plated runs early with three in the first and extended their lead to 6-1 in the top of the second. The Tigers (5-3) bounced back by scoring four in the home half of the frame and took the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth.
The pitcher Ben Emery led off the Redskin seventh with a single and stole second before Adam Pinkham singled him to third. Following Pinkham’s steal, Haggett plated the two base runners with a timely single.
Mt. Blue 6, Cony 2
AUGUSTA – Ben Paytis hit the eventual game-winning single in the fifth inning to lift Mt. Blue to a 6-2 win over Cony in KVAC baseball action Thursday.
Chelsea Allen had a pair of hits for two RBIs for the Cougars (6-4). Brian Wells picked up a win in his first mound decision of the season.
The Rams (8-2) scored a run in the first and third innings, and bottomed out the rest of the way. Brandon Cummings had a double for the only extra base hit of the game.
Cheverus 7, Lewiston 2
PORTLAND – Joe Stein’s triple sparked a three-run fourth inning as Cheverus rolled over Lewiston 7-2 in SMAA baseball action Thursday. Matt Duffy chipped in for the Stags (8-2) with a double, while Kyle Kipikas allowed just three hits as he picked up the mound win.
The Blue Devils (0-10) started Dustin Longchamps on the hill, who took the loss. Zack Timmermeyer came in to relieve in the fifth and completed the game.
