AUBURN – The city’s Public Works Department will host its annual open house between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at Woodbury Bracket Municipal Garage on Gracelawn Avenue.

The event is an opportunity for the department to showcase the projects it has completed over the past year and to acquaint citizens with equipment and services.

Activities will include tours of the buildings and grounds, equipment demonstrations and displays of daily operations.

“Children absolutely love this event”, said Laurie Smith, Auburn’s Community Relations manager. “Where else do you get a chance to ride in a real bulldozer or excavator and work the controls?”

Equipment ranging from street sweepers to plow trucks will be on hand. There also will be balloons, door prizes and refreshments.

The event will take place rain or shine. For more information call Auburn Public Works at 783-1733, or e-mail Dick Keene at DKeene@ci.auburn.me.us.
