1925-2003

SOUTH PARIS – Lorraine Jacqueline Ball, 77, a long-time resident of Prospect Avenue, died unexpectedly early Sunday at the Ledgeview Nursing Home in South Paris, where she had been a patient since 1998. She was born in Rumford Oct.10, 1925, the daughter of Francois and Georgina Lemieux Mailot and was educated in the schools of Rumford.

She married Raymond H. Ball, Sr.,who died April 3,1993. Ball was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of St. Athanasius St. John Parish and had several interests she enjoyed including traveling, playing cards,bowling, going out to spend time at her cottage on Worthley Pond, eating desserts, especially various chocolate dishes and ice cream. Ball was known to have a wonderful sense of humor which she shared with her family often. Her family members, children and grandchildren were her most important interest. Lorraine devoted much of her life to her son Lenny whom she loved dearly.

Survivors include two daughters Mrs. David (Brenda J.) Drapeau of Buxton and Mrs. Chet (Maureen M.) Herrick of Bethel, three sons Raymond H.Ball, Jr. and his wife Lynn of Arvada, Colo., Gary A. Ball of Rumford and Lenny W. Ball of Durham, four sisters Mrs. Blanche McLeod, Mrs. Gerard (Jeanne) LeBrecque , Mrs. Joseph (Doris) DeFilipp, all of Rumford, and Mrs. Dick (Theresa) Cioffa of Kansas, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter Vallarie Anne Ball Sept. 26th, 1981.
