AUBURN – Central Maine Technical College Corporate and Community Services will offer a series of workshops to stimulate creativity and ease stress with easy-to-make projects.

Creating Handmade Books (CCS 091-21): The workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from May 21 until June 4. Cost is $55 and includes materials. Using simple materials, including paper, scissors, glue, dental floss, markers, ribbons and beads, participants will create their own handmade books. Learn how to create pop-up cards, the hidden book, the two-sewn-as-one book, the hard-cover multiple signature book and a blank journal.

Mask Making (CCS 092-21): The workshop will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, June 3 and 10. Cost is $45 and includes materials. Participants will create one-of-a-kind masks and embellish them with feathers, lace and beads. The workshop will provide an introduction to the mask-making process; making a mask and adorning it. Participants will create at least one mask to take home.

Collage Made Easy (CCS 093-21): The workshop will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 11. Cost is $30 and includes materials. Participants will take a number of items and place them together to create an unexpected work of art. Learn the art of collage by employing techniques that include using paper, mixed-media, fabric, photomontage, computer art, found objects.

Calligraphy (CCS94-21): A workshop will be presented from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 18. Cost is $30 and includes materials. Participants will learn the art of writing beautifully through calligraphy and apply that learning to create meaningful cards, letters, poems, stories or manuscripts.

The workshops will be taught by Sue Whitmore of Westbrook. Whitmore has been teaching and training for more than 11 years in the areas of art, travel and computers. She earned a bachelor of fine arts and a teaching certificate from the University of Maine system. She is a member of the United Maine Craftsmen.
