Fair, open house
LEWISTON – A scholastic book fair and open house will be held Saturday, May 17, at the Vineyard Christian School, 9 Foss Road. The book fair, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is open to the public. The open house will be held from noon to 2 p.m.

Radio exam
AUBURN – An amateur radio exam session will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the Auburn Red Cross Building behind Sacred Heart Church. It is sponsored by the ARRL and the Boy Scouts.
Prayer service
LEWISTON – A service of prayer, music and meditation for world peace will be held Tuesday, May 20, at 7 p.m. at the YWCA, East Avenue. Music will be provided by Chelsea Cook, cello, and Paul Martz, flute. Readings and prayers for peace will be offered from many religious traditions. The service is being hosted by the Lewiston/Auburn Interfaith Clergy Association.
Bates clubs
LEWISTON – The Androscoggin and Cumberland County Bates College clubs will gather at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, to join the senior class in cheering on the Portland Sea Dogs vs. Bowie Bay Sox, Hadlock Field, Portland.

Remember When
NEW GLOUCESTER – The Remember When Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, at the Amvets Hall. A service will be held in memory of those who died in 2002. A fried chicken lunch will be served and there will be a raffle.
The club met on May 6 when Mitch Thomas entertained after a potluck lunch. Door prizes were won by Barbara Lee and Ray Cyr.
Memorial service
AUBURN – First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, at Hasty Community Center. There will be a board of directors meeting at 10. Following the bag lunch, a memorial service will be held, with Lucy Cowles as coordinator. There will be no raffle, but a pot of gold drawing will take place during the meeting.
On Wednesday, May 7, 92 members attended a buffet dinner at Martindale Country Club to observe the 40th anniversary of the club. A guest, Jan Biron, from the Auburn Recreation Department, was welcomed along with several past presidents.
A musical duo, Side by Side, entertained. At the end of the celebration, each member received an anniversary mug inscribed “40th anniversary 1963-2003.”
Poland society
POLAND – The Poland Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the Maine State Building, Poland Spring Complex. Elliot Levey will host the meeting, showing the restoration of the art gallery on the third floor. A business meeting will be held, and refreshments will be served after. Call 998-4391 for details.
Talk on Dechaine
RICHMOND – A talk by Jim Moore, author of “Human Sacrifice” is set for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 22, at Nellie’s Church, 1 Spruce St. Moore, a retired federal investigator, will review the 1989 trial of Bowdoinham farmer Dennis Dechaine, and explain why he thinks an innocent man is imprisoned for murder.
