I read Peter Frewen’s excellent guest column on April 27 titled “Nonprofit groups sustain our spiritual hearts.”
It is true: Lewiston-Auburn has developed a reputation for performing arts. We are no longer a “cultural desert” as reported decades ago in a Portland paper, if indeed, we ever were.
I’m writing this letter because Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre was inadvertently omitted in the lineup of organizations that provide concert, theatre and dance attractions. I feel I should respond to this omission.
CLT has been in the L/A community for some 63 years. Our subscribers number in the thousands and come from L/A and surrounding towns. Our performances have steadily improved to near professionalism and some of our actors have gone on to the professional stage. Our stage has attracted performers from Wiscasset, Harpswell, Saco and Portland, to name just a few areas beyond our community.
There are many more.
This is not to take anything away from Frewen’s column, but just to say, “Hey, we’re here, too, and we also contribute.
