1908 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Gertrude Kempton Thomas, 95, of Farmington, died Tuesday morning, May 20, at Franklin Memorial Hospital.

She had been a resident of Orchard Park Rehabilitatioin and Living Center for the past 11 months. She was born Jan. 13, 1908, in West Phillips, the daughter of Arthur E. and Ethel B. (Lakin) Kempton.

She received her education in Phillips schools and later went to work as a domestic. On June 4, 1936, she married Howard Thomas. He died May 13, 1990. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall, Farmington and was a member of the Rangeley American Legion Auxiliary and the Rangeley Senior Citizens. Her favorite hobby was crocheting.

She is survived by a daughter, Janet McKenney of Farmington; three granddaughters, Alice Blue and her husband, Perry of LaJunta, Colo., Roselee Stanley and her husband, Arthur of Jay and Penny Theriault and her husband, Ted of Shapleigh; eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a sister, Sarah Bubier.
