WEST BETHEL – Richard Linn Hosterman Sr., 83, of the Flat Road, West Bethel, died Thursday, May 22, at his residence.
He was born in Springfield, Ohio, on Dec. 7, 1919, a son of Harley C. and Willetta Owen Hosterman. He attended Wittenburg University in Springfield, Ohio, and was a member of the A.T.O. Fraternity.
Mr. Hosterman was a firefighter in Weston, Mass., for 11 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. Besides being a train enthusiast, he was a member of the Mundt-Allen American Legion Post of Bethel, the Bethel Historical Society, and a former member of the Bethel Planning Board. He was also a member of the West Bethel Union Church.
Surviving are his wife, Jane Weber Hosterman of West Bethel, a son Richard, Jr and his wife, Patia of weston, MA; a daughter, Sue Hosterman-Smith of Scituate, MA.; a sister-in-law, Jayne Hosterman of Springfield, Ohio and a grandson, Peter J. Smith of Scituate, Mass.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Owen Hosterman.
