1913 – 2003

NORWAY – Evelyn C. Brown, 89, of Norway died Monday, May 26, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Paris on Sept. 18, 1913, the daughter of Reginald S. and Nellie Pomeroy Cummings.

After the untimely death of her parents, she was adopted by Newton A. and Edna L. Cummings.

She graduated from Paris High School in 1931 and Farmington Normal School in 1933. She was a teacher for one year at Partridge School before working as a bookkeeper for Grover Lumber Co.

She married Donald L. Brown. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage living in North Waterford and E. Stoneham, before his death in 1989.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara B. Sayward of Greenville, S.C.; a granddaughter, Diana L. and husband James Colson of Greer, S.C.; two great grandsons, Mark Brown Colson and Kevin James Colson; two sisters, Marian York of South Paris and Helen Tyler of Winthrop; a brother, Wilmer Cummings of Lakeworth, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a son, Dale L. Brown in 1936.
