STONEHAM – The Planning Board has denied camp lot owners Margaret Dutil and Candace Cummings a permit for a six-foot addition to the porch attached to a trailer.

The lot is so small – one-sixth acre – that the proposed expansion would bring it too close to a little inlet of Keewaydin Lake, the board ruled last week. Members did agree to allow the owners to replace the screened area with glass.

Leonard Hawes was granted a permit to build a sunroom.

Robert Levine applied for a permit for a 38- by 43-foot home, and the question arose how to handle it if, as expected, he decides to build a smaller home.

No amendment is required for a smaller home, only if it is larger, but the applicant should let the board know of a change of plans, Code Enforcement Officer Derek DeSanctis said.

Summit Achievement, an outdoor program with headquarters in New Hampshire, applied for a permit for a 16- by 20-foot tent platform on the rocky summit of Pine Mountain. Its 240-acre lot abuts White Mountain National Forest and is an extremely steep climb, DeSanctis said.
