1917 – 2003

LEWISTON – Rosaire C. “Ross” DeBlois, 85, of 59 Ste. Croix St. died Thursday, June 5, at his home after a lingering illness.

He was born in Lewiston July 16, 1917, the son of Charles H. and Blanche McGraw DeBlois. He was educated in Lewiston schools, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1935. He also took accounting courses from Lasalle Extension University. He served proudly in World War II, attaining the rank of master sergeant in the Army Air Force. He co-owned and operated D & L Bottle Gas Company on Cedar Street many years ago. He later owned and operated Ross Variety Store for many years and was comptroller of Diamond Machine Co. for 27 years retiring in 1982.

He was married February 6, 1943, to Rolande Y. “Ducky” Beaulieu and was a member of Holy Cross Parish and was a former member of the American Legion, Am Vets, Musical Literary Club, Webber Avenue Club and Holy Cross Senior Citizens. He had served as auditor for the supervisory committee of Ste. Croix Parish Federal Credit Union and also as its treasurer for many years. He enjoyed fishing, reading and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife of Lewiston; two daughters, Susan Poulin and fiancé Ted Lindsey of Harpswell, and Linda Charpentier and husband Roger of Lewiston; two sons, Ronald DeBlois and wife Madeleine of Lewiston and Glenn DeBlois and companion Rachel Roy of Greene; grandchildren, Pam Kratzer and husband David, Marc DeBlois and wife Michelle, Kim Benjamin and husband Ray, Craig Charpentier, Brittany and Colby DeBlois; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Kyle Benjamin, Kaitlyn and Hannah DeBlois and Amelia and Ryan Kratzer. He was predeceased by a sister, Carmen Langlais.
